Dr. Fitzgibbon, Dean of the College of Technology (COT), Dr. Enrique Barbieri, Chair of the Engineering Technology (ET)Department, Dr. Heidar Malki, COT Dean of Research, Dr. Driss Benhaddou, Dr. Deniz Gurkan, and Dr. Mequanint Moges, COT ET faculty, Sergio Chacon, UH AT&T Lab Manager, Lisa Burns, COT Director of Development, Russ Gundrum, AT&T Senior Engineer, and Jim Segovia, AT&T Account Manager were among the guests.
The University of Houston College of Technology has partnered with Juniper Networks to offer Advanced Routing certification courses inn the UH AT&T Lab.

Russ Gundrum, Senior Project Manager-Business Communications Systems for AT&T and part-time faculty of the College of Technology presented his recently acquired patent “Digital Subscriber Line Induction Neutralizing Transformer Network” (US Patent # 7266154) to members of the IEEE Communications Society @ the AT&T Bellaire location.
The deployment of AT&T’s Advanced TV U-Verse in the University of Houston was presented by Russ Gundrum, project manager, to the IEEE Communications Society at the Hess Building (left). Mr. Lee Gaspard hosted the event that counted with the presence of the IEEE ComSoc board, UH AT&T Account Manager Jim Segovia, and the UH AT&T Lab Manager Sergio Chacon.
The University of Houston College of Technology UH AT&T hosted the last Internet2 Dynamic Circuits NetworkSC08 workshop of the year.
The official deployment of AT&T’s Advanced TV U-Verse in the University of Houston was celebrated today in the AT&T Lab, the first of its kind in an institution of higher education in the world.
When SC08 opens November 15, 2008 in Austin, Texas, the conference will feature the latest scientific and technical innovations from around the world. Bringing together scientists, engineers, researchers, educators, programmers, system administrators and managers, SC08 will be the forum for demonstrating how these developments are driving new ideas, new discoveries and new industries.
The International Society of Automation (ISA) and the University of Houston College of Technology have renewed their commitment to provide ISA certification courses in the UH AT&T Lab.
The UH AT&T is the first lab in the world to have the AT&T Advanced TV system, U-Verse. IPTV technology will be showcased in the lab while the University of Houston completes the construction of the Calhoun Lofts, a 1000 room complex, which will be the first installation of U-Verse in any university campus in the world. The Calhoun Lofts will be completed in the Fall of 2009.
